An acai bowl is basically a really thick smoothie that’s been topped with oatmeal, granola, fruit or some nut butter. Acai bowls taste almost like ice cream and you may consider them as a treat or dessert but they are a really scrumptious, nutritious meal. It will make you feel full for a long time . Usual way of preparing acai bowl in Brazil is acai puree, guarana syrup and banana, but there is no wrong way of preparing it, combine ingredients you like or are at your disposal and give it a try. I bet you this will be your favorite recipe for breakfast or snack. Even if you are not looking for healthy or easy breakfast, you must admit, acai bowl is one of most beautiful, most colorful breakfast around.

What is acai berry?
Only recently known throughout the world, Acai berry has for centuries been a staple food for the people in the Amazon rainforest. Since it is such an important part of their diet Acai palm is one of the most important plant species of that region.
Labeled as super foods with a variety of amazing almost magical properties and with a taste that many describe as a fruity red wine with chocolate notes, Acai berries have become, in a short time, very popular among health conscious population.

Is acai berry healthy?
Qualities attributed to them for marketing purposes are far from reality as is the case with any other super food, the fact is that magic potion for weight loss does not exist. That being said Acai berries are very healthy, rich in antioxidants and vitamins and full of “good” fats and they make a great addition to a well balanced diet. Acai berry(technically, the fruit is a drupe) is a fruit of palm tree and as such has a similar nutritional composition as dates, coconut and other palm fruits. They have a high percentage of fat mostly medium chain fatty acids like oleic acid (omega-9) and linoleic acid (omega-6).
Acai berries contain a good amount of minerals like copper, iron, potassium, magnesium and manganese. Further, they are rich in vitamins B-complex and vitamin-K. There is also an array of antioxidants and  acai berries are also a good source of dietary fiber.

How to eat acai berries?
Now we come to the question of how best to enjoy this delicious fruit. Since fresh acai berries can not be found anywhere outside of Brazil the next best thing is frozen puree. And what to do with frozen fruit puree? The most popular ways to use it is in some form of smoothie or in an acai bowl.


How to make acai bowl?
The recipe is pretty simple. You need a blender, spatula and your favorite bowl and a spoon.



And of course, you need some ingredients: frozen acai puree, banana, some nut milk , some sweetener like honey or agave nectar , fresh or frozen fruits like berries or pomegranate and maybe some oats or granola. Feel free to be creative with your toppings!

Put acai puree, frozen berries and banana in a blender, add some milk and blend until smooth . Keep in mind – getting the right texture is a tricky part. Congrats,the half of job is done.

For acai bowl
  1. 1 package (3.5 oz) frozen acai puree, slightly twat
  2. 1/2 tbsp agava nectar
  3. 1/2 cup coconut milk
  4. 1/2 cup frozen berry mix
  5. 1/2 banana
For topping
  1. 1/2 banana , sliced
  2. 2 tbsp frozen berry mix
  3. 3 tbsp granola
  4. 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  1. Put the acai puree, frozen berries, agava nectar and banana in a blender.
  2. Add the milk and blend until smooth.
  3. Transfer the mixture in a bowl.
  4. Top it with berries, banana slices , granola and pomegranate seeds.
  5. Enjoy!
