You knew it had to happen sometime. Sure we can play around and poll you about fun foods like pizza, hamburgersfrench fries and all your other favorites, but eventually we’re going to have to sober up and ask you how you like to eat that dreaded food: vegetables.

Nobody likes vegetables, but seeing as they take up over a quarter of the plate on the new USDA MyPlate* guidelines, we’re gonna have to put up with them. So the question is, how do you make your veggies more tolerable?

Let’s be clear: when I say “vegetables,” I don’t mean the obscure ones like jicama or eggplant. I’m talking about veggie tray fare: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, celery, cherry tomatoes, and the like.

Do you dip them? If so, what sauce? Or do you prefer them cooked? Do you like them as part of another dish, like casserole? Or salad? Or maybe you’ve said, “Screw that cruel USDA MyPlate and its blatant disregard for vegetable rights,” and have sworn them off entirely.

Vote for your favorite vegetable consumption method below and tell us why you voted the way you did in the comments.

*Notice the lack of a space between the words “My” and “Plate” in “MyPlate,” which renders it savvy and, in the words of internal USDA office memos, “hip to the new generation.”

I eat celery and carrots with ranch and/or sour cream dips.

Otherwise I cook or steam them.

I could eat salads for days, but when it comes to these types of veggies my only celery & carrot consumption seems to be alongside a dozen wings or in soup.

Cherry tomatoes though I can eat straight up by the handful.

vegetables are, like the commercial says, “too vegetably”, but I can eat raw baby carrots when I have to. (sigh) And my wasteline shows it, unfortunately.
