Dairy Queen (37%) defeats Wendy’s (34%) and Sonic (29%).

Congratulations to Dairy Queen. After more than 50,000 total Fast Food Bracket votes, they now hold the title of top Fast Food chain in America as voted on by So Good readers.

The final vote is upon us. 32 food chains entered the ring for an all out brawl known as the Fast Food Bracket.  Click HERE to see how it all began.  There were surprises, upsets, and perhaps the most shocking final four vote ever, as Sonic and Dairy Queen somehow managed to tie with EXACTLY 4,267 votes each.  Due to this extremely unlikely turn of events, we have what should prove to be a hilariously awesome THREE-WAY vote to determine who is the best fast food chain in America.

For the Finals match-up #1 Wendy’s takes on #3 Sonic and #4 Dairy Queen in this epic vote.

No instant run-off voting in this one folks, we vote this week and then it’s all over but the whining, even if the margin ends up being 34%-33%-33%, the chain with the most votes will be crowned champion.

Voting will be open until 1 pm FRIDAY. The polling application has been set so that readers can vote once every 12 hours.

    Dairy queen has to win. Wendy’s puts mayo on EVERYTHING, even if you ask them not to, and every Sonic I’ve ever been to has been unfriendly, slow, and a lot of their staff have been plain-out rude. I’ve never been to one that’s had kind employees. And plus, Dairy Queen is yummy. You can’t beat a Dilly Bar.

    This is HORSESHIT. Dairy Queen IS balls. It is an ice cream shop. The fact that Five Guys or Taco Bell weren’t in the top four is a crime against humanity.

    Yeah I really don’t understand at all how DQ won this. I literally do not know anyone who likes DQ. I’m chalking this one up to the fact that Sonic has fewer locations so less people have tried it. Especially in the upper midwest, there are tons of DQ’s and no Sonics. As for Wendy’s, I’m surprised they did not win. I can’t think of the reason why…people with negative comments towards Wendy’s on here mostly say “the food is nasty” or “they got my order wrong”, neither of which I have ever had happen in numerous trips to Wendy’s. I guess we all have different experiences based on which locations we go to. (Although, I’ve been to probably 5 different DQ’s and they have all been the same: dirty, old, smelly, slow, and average-tasting.) Whatever. This vote doesn’t change my opinion.

    Must be ice cream fans that pushed DQ over the top. Their burgers are truly subpar compared to Wendy’s or Sonic. What kind of bracket competition has 3 finalists anyhow? Head-to-head, either of the burger places would have clobbered DQ.

    Wow, DQ really won. Maybe DQ is better in other parts of the country. I haven’t been to one in awhile being they all closed except for one. If anything though, if Sonic didn’t win, they should have come in second, because they are better than Wendy’s; that should be a fact by now! I guess it goes to show, Wendy’s being more mainstream and having more restaurants, goes the long way were people haven’t had Sonic, like CT. One day, everyone will know the truth. Sonic is the best fast food you can ever have!

    the closet Wendy’s is 45 minutes away. Every time I do grocery shopping out of town, I bring 2 large chili’s home. One to eat as chili frito pie and the other like a taco salad. YUM. DQ chili sucks.

    to everyone who thinks Wendy’s is so great.. try to contain yourselves.. first of all, their portions are WAY too small, second only to McDonald’s. but what I’d really like to know, why is it that, 15 years after everybody else has done it, do they STILL not let you make your own soda?     Kelly, why are you not understanding this…Wendy’s food is just as fresh as DQ’s. The reason it takes you so long to get your food at DQ is because the employees, in my experience, are idiots. Wendy’s has much higher standards, which is why they are way more efficient. Wendy’s gives you fresh food FAST, something that DQ will never do. If DQ was any good maybe they would make more MONEY, like Wendy’s. Every DQ I have ever been to looks the same as it did when it first opened. And when was the last time a new DQ was built? I don’t know, but I’ve bever seen one that was less than 20 years old. And once again, I do not care how long it takes their ice cream to melt, because when I go to a fast FOOD restaurant, I get FOOD.

DQ is “ICE MILK” less air, water which is why it costs more…I dont even eat at Wendys cuz I know the FACTS, like I said do ur homework! DQ prices ARE high, which is part of the reason I don’t go there, because for the quality of the food it’s not worth it. Clearly you are biased because your family owns DQ. We obviously do not live in the same state, because no one where I live eats DQ because it sucks here. Maybe they’re good wherever you live, I don’t know. And how the fuck do you know if I have experience in the food business? YOU DON’T. And for your information, I do. As I mentioned, I don’t give a fuck about ice cream at Wendy’s or DQ.     Wendy’s lost, not me. But I’m sure they don’t care since they make more money than DQ anyway. More people choose Wendy’s than DQ every day. How are you going to argue with the American people? Probably by telling them to “do their homework,” and insult their taste, calling it “low class.” Neither or which make any sense whatsoever, because you don’t need to do any homework to decide what tastes better. And the idea that your taste is “better” than someone else’s is ridiculous because taste is a matter of opinion, and one’s taste cannot be better than another’s.     I’m not sure about profits, but Wendy’s was a #1 seed because in terms of overall revenue they make more than Sonic and Dairy Queen. So the statement that more people choose Wendy’s everyday is in fact true, they have more locations, more customers and higher sales.

    I honestly think that Chick-fil-A should have won. I was actually shocked that they didn’t make it any further than they did.

    ANYWAY, I like all three of the finalists. Our local DQ is located in a really trashy truck stop right off the Interstate in the middle of nowhere, and doesn’t really have good food service, but the food is still pretty good, though I hardly ever go there because it is so far out of the way of everything. It would have probably closed long ago if not for Interstate travelers stopping there. Despite that fact, I agree with Dairy Queen winning the competition, and I hope that our restaurant doesn’t close down anytime soon.

    Our local Wendy’s and Sonic restaurants are actually located in town, so they are much more accessible. They are also A LOT nicer than our Dairy Queen. I don’t eat at either restaurant very often, because they are on the opposite side of town (I live in a small town of 8,000 residents, so we only have one of each), but they are also very good (though Arby’s is much better than Wendys, and Dairy Queen is much better than Sonic, in my opinion).

    @ Cary: I am not a big fan of Taco Bell. I honestly think that their tacos has a “fake” taste. I do like some of their nacho stuff though, and I appreciate you giving your opinion.

    Anyway, sorry about such a long post! I know I am kinda off subject from the present conversation, but I just thought I’d put my two cents worth in on this subject.

    Wendy’s revenue in 2009 was $3.58 billion. Sonic’s was $718.8 million. I couldn’t find a very recent figure for Dairy Queen, but in 2006 it was $476 million. There.

    That literally says nothing relevant to this discussion. They’re owned by Berkshire-Hathaway, which has a yearly revenue of almost $100 billion…but that doesn’t say how much of it comes from DQ. Since the 2006 figure was $476 million, I would guess the 2009 revenue was in the $450-550 million range. So let’s recap to make it simple for you Kelly:

    Wendy’s: $3.58 billion
    Sonic: $718.8 million
    DQ: $450-550 million

    You can’t argue with the numbers.

    Wendy’s is BY FAR the biggest of these three chains in terms of revenue. By far. Sonic is also ahead of DQ. More people buy more food and spend more money at Wendy’s and Sonic each year than do at Dairy Queen.

    That’s not debatable, it’s just a fact.
