Review: Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles

So Good Blog, it is a sunny Monday morning, and wow.  Last week was quite a week, wasn’t it? Hopefully, the page can be turned, and we can focus on moving forward positively.  But yeah, wow. Your friendly neighborhood Junk Food Guy was right there with ya, clammy hands and all, yelping “WTF” with each new news update.

Today I’d like to review these Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles!

I’m not really a huge breakfast waffle fan (I prefer pancakes) but I had to try these Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles.  I mean, first of all, what Season are we talking about with S’mores? Fall? Winter?  I mean, it seems people go camping all the time, and I’m pretty sure they aren’t bringing toasters with them.

Plus, do people LOVE S’MORES THAT MUCH that they need them as a waffle flavor?  Maybe they do, and so these Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles are the answer.  Apparently full of graham, marshmallow, and chocolate flavor, these Eggo Seasons Waffles, I guess, remind you of baking marshmallows by the fire…as you stand at the counter, waiting for your toaster to pop.

Should it concern you that there is more vegetable oil than chocolate in these Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles?  Or is the more concerning part be the lack of surprise from me?

Post-toast.  These definitely looked better, post-toast.

I always preferred the more substantial, Bisquick-y taste of pancakes to waffles.  I get it, waffles have perfect syrup pockets, and they taste like a fluffy cloud of air.  But that’s not enough for me to choose these over pools of fried cake.

These Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles, when toasted, were crisp and full of standard waffle flavor.  Did I detect a graham taste?  I mean, I guess…not enough to make me instantly recognize anything in particular.  The dough was sweet, and these Eggo Seasons waffles did have a nice warmth and fluffiness to them.  Texture-wise, can’t go wrong.

The problem I had with these Limited Edition S’mores Eggo Seasons Waffles was they didn’t really taste like S’mores to me.  The marshmallows bites were nice when I tasted them, adding a bit of sweet creaminess…but there wasn’t enough.  The chocolate bits were definitely the stronger flavor, despite there not being enough of those either.  Nice, cocoa-y, dark taste to the chocolate bits.

Overall, I’d give these an above average rating, IF you don’t mind that these really just tasted like a chocolate chip waffle.  When I did get a bit of marshmallow taste, I could imagine a S’mores flavor…but if S’mores flavor is the headline on the box, I should taste that flavor IMMEDIATELY and THROUGHOUT my chew.  Just not enough here.
