It seems as though yogurt is all the rage these days. Although the Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt commercial with John Stamos below didn’t exactly sweep the charts for the best Super Bowl commercial, it definitely shows that Greek yogurt is growing in popularity (and that domestic violence is a-okay!).

The subject of many emails from health and calorie-counting guru Hungry Girl, Greek yogurt, along with almonds, avocado and hummus, seems to be joining the ranks of those wow-I-can-look-cosmopolitan-and-stay-healthy foods so popular with mid-to-upper class women suburbanites these days. While demographically these women may seem classy, you have to wonder how many of them still lick their yogurt lids.

Have you latched on to the Greek yogurt trend, or do you prefer to stick with the old-fashioned stuff? Do you add anything to it, like granola or honey? Vote for your favorite way to eat yogurt and explain your answer in the comments section below.

I east the flavored Greek yogurt 4-5 days a week for breakfast. Yogurt and a V8 and off I go. I have always loved yogurt though, the Greek really has the texture and that extra bit of tang that really makes it better to me. I would like to take this time to offer a PSA regarding the Chobani passion fruit yogurt. It includes the passion fruit seeds, which may sound like its a nice crunchy element like granola, instead it just seems weird.

I make my own and add whatever I want to it: honey, fruit or homemade lemon curd…whatever. If I want it thicker like Greek-style, I just strain it.

If it’s real Greek Yogurt I’ll take that. While I hate the texture of the light yogurts I eat them daily, although Krogers have a cool product called CarbWatcher which has some solid protein.

I love Kroger’s Carbmaster yogurts (I think that’s what Adam meant). They’re delicious when stuck in the freezer for a few hours, and they’re a great price. Carrot cake is definitely my favorite flavor.

Maybe I am too getting sucked into the greek yogurt frenzy that has suddenly erupted lately, but I absolutely love the taste and texture of Greek yogurt! Like anything, I think it comes down to the first try, whether it’s a hit or miss. The first time I purchased Greek yogurt was from a local health food store. It was honey flavored and made by a company called “the Greek gods”. (same price as Chobani and other grocery store brands, but I’ve only seen it at health food stores) To this day it is still my favorite. I also love Chobani, but their version of honey’s got nothin on The Greek Gods. Plain GY?.. Ehh.. Maybe if I add some honey & fruit / granola. However, I like it for cooking. First time I tried Chobani’s Passion Fruit yogurt I was a bit turned off/unsure how i felt about the seeds. The next day I gave my boyfriend one and he loved it. This seemingly meaningless confirmation must have had a strong effect on me, because all of a sudden, I too am now a fan of this Passion Fruit flavor and all of it’s seedy, crunchy goodness 🙂

Chobani passion fruit ( yes with the seeds ) is the best greek yogurt on the market. The Blood Orange, Mango, Blueberry and Raspberry are also great flavors. I was a LaYogurt Strawberry fruit cup lover until I went Greek…..have not had a Dannon in over 12 years, had been a Dannon lover for 20 years.
