An article at The Huffington Post notes that a New York Times reporter observed on Sunday that while on a golf outing in Hawaii, President-elect Obama ordered spam musubi.
Wikipedia describes spam musubi as:
a very popular snack and luncheon food in Hawaii made in the tradition of Japanese onigiri, also known as a musubi. A Spam musubi is composed of a block of salted (not vinegared; that would be sushi) rice with a slice of Spam (cooked or uncooked) on top, and typically nori (dried seaweed) surrounding it to keep it in shape.
In April, Serious Eats provided a tutorial on how to make spam musabi, and this short YouTube clip also gives you an idea of how it is made:

I live in Japan and though Japanese don’t eat that much spam, they’ve got cute commercials on TV for spam
