Happy Monday, So Good readers!  Its Eric, your friendly neighborhood Junk Food Guy. I’ve been hitting the office pretty hard for the past two weeks, so it’s a nice break getting to write for all of you. I spent much of the weekend debating the new Superman/Batman movie and why the Justice League is WAAAY better than the Avengers.  Hey, that’s what happens when you have friends who went to Comic Con in San Diego last weekend.  #geektastic …. But seriously, Dark Knight Rises isn’t two years in the can, and they’re already trying to bring Batman back??? Blasphemy. Sigh.

Today’s junk food: New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes!

New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes

I discussed these New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes with the guys over on The Nosh Show this week, Episode 9, and my take on this new flavor of Fudge Cremes was: I WANTED TO EAT THESE. Why? Because I’d been a huge fan of Oreo’s previous fruit-flavored creme and dark cookie mixes, in particular, Berry Burst Oreos. Plus, I like fruit and chocolate, so what could go wrong, right?  (Although, my other reviews for fudge cremes have been sort of all over the place (here, here, and here) so…maybe I shouldn’t get my hopes up?)

Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes Nutrition Facts

Each of these New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes has about 60 calories per cookie, and…

Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes Ingredients

…is loaded with lots of yeeeeeeeeeg inducing ingredients.  First of all, where the hell are the raspberries, Oreo? I see natural and artificial falvor, and that’s it.  Not even some raspberry puree? Nothing???  Toss me a bone here, Oreo.

Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes

When I opened up this package of New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes, I SWEAR TO GOD, it smelled like bubblegum.  Holy cow it was weird. WEIRD. Smelled like fruit punch or raspberry Bubbalicious Bubblegum!  My mind spun.  I mean, even the Watermelon Oreos didn’t give off such a distinct aroma…but these were undoubtedly (and eerily) fruit smelling.

Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes Insides

Undaunted by the smell, I blindly foraged ahead and took a bite of these New Raspberry Oreo Fudge Cremes. Like other Fudge Cremes I’ve eaten, the texture was similar – with only one layer of cookie, the creme top of the Oreo was sort of soft and mushy while the cookie provided only a little bit of snap.  My mouth was immediately filled with super sweet fudgey chocolate flavor.  The palm oil made the chocolate exterior melt easily with my body heat and coat my finger tips.  Eating a Fudge Creme is a fairly messy affair.

Flavor-wise, outside of the fudgey exterior and the typical Oreo cookie flavor, the creme inside was barely noticeable over the fudge until a few chews in. Then, a sort of cherry/raspberry-medicinal flavor emerged.  It was berry-like, but definitely a bit too artificial tasting for my liking. Sort of like tasting a fake fruit gummy candy that is coated in chocolate…not the most harmonious melding of chocolate and fruit flavor. The overall feeling was sort of cheap…this was a half assed fruit creme covered with overpowering fudge.

All in all, NOT my favorite fruit Oreo at all.  Sad face…

You need to really get some help.
1st, go to the doc and get what ever is stuck in your nose out. By the way you wrote it was last week’s bubble gum. Opening the package, the aroma of raspberry and chocolate hits you.
2nd, you are reading the ingredients of oreos and your are expecting more than natural and artificial flavors??? Really?!?
3rd, eating them you taste the dark chocolate and milk chocolate with the mild, but sweet taste of raspberry cream. These are worth buying and using in recipes, especially ones with Cream Cheese.
Go get you some Twinkies and sit down.

“the dark chocolate and milk chocolate with the mild, but sweet taste of raspberry cream”? Taz apparently works for Nabisco.

I just tried these and was so, so disappointed. They have a chemical, medicinal aftertaste, and the fake raspberry flavor overwhelms everything else. They smell great when you open the bag, but eating… not so good. I love raspberry/chocolate combinations, but this one needs to go back to the kitchen.

My wife and I liked these cookies. The raspberry flavor was right on. If people don’t like these cookies, it is because they don’t like raspberry. Keep them coming, Please!!!

I happen to love love LOVE raspberries. But these cookies were the worst thing I have ever eaten. I had a tiny fraction of one cookie and had to run to the sink to get it out of my mouth.
I even gargled in coffee to get the flavor out fast!
I’m taking them back to the store.

These are the most horrible tings i have ever tasted. tastes like cheap candy and cheap fudge. I paid 2.98 at WalMart for a pack…it was cheap but tastes so bad. Never again! Whoever ends up liking these have never tasted quality…or never tasted oreos. It has nothing to do with Oreos…just Oreo brand cookies. GROSSSS!!!

I can’t stand the original or mint flavored chocolate covered Oreos. Someone gave me a pack of Raspberry as a Christmas gift as they know I like generally anything Raspberry flavored.

While I can’t say it tastes anything remotely Raspberry to me, I love the cookie. I don’t agree with the medicinal taste, but just that it has a kind of aroma that is sicky-sweet. However they taste awesome. If this gets taken off the market because of negative response, I’ll be a sad panda.
