Board games have been around forever, so we’ve seen our fair share of food themed titles gracing the shelves at Toys R Us.  A lucky few have become classics, popping up in rec rooms and onto kitchen tables  for decades, while most others that obviously couldn’t afford a decent focus group, soon find themselves discontinued, languishing in Dollar Stores and liquidation outlets  country wide.

While many will scoff at the relevancy of old school board games, especially in this day and age of cell phone App-apalooza, they need not look any further then Hasbro and 1.17 billion dollars worth of sales via the category for 2011.

Fueled by the increasingly Foodie frantic culture we live and play in, there’s no stopping companies from attempting to carve out a slice of that pie.
