Eating Styles: Mayonnaise VS Miracle Whip Edition!

by · March 18th, 2013 · 12 Comments

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another Eating Styles poll. This week the theme is: Mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. The former is a simple concoction of raw egg yolks, oil, lemon juice/vinegar and spices, the latter is more processed, with high fructose corn syrup and sugar added for a sweeter taste. Miracle Whip is generally perceived as healthier than Mayo, but they’re pretty similar nutrition-wise. The people on team Mayonnaise seem to dislike Miracle Whip with a special vengeance. A couple years ago, Kraft Foods ran a “Take a Side” campaign centering around this very idea.

What’s your stance? Do you stick to the classic taste of Mayonnaise or do you prefer the “tangy zip” of Miracle Whip? Do you eschew both? Vote below and explain your choice in the comments. Also, for some reason the voting doesn’t work in Chrome browsers right now, but it does work in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Mayonnaise. Miracle whip has no place near any sort of food. Vile stuff.

Miracle Whip is the Devil’s Condiment.

There’s no meaningful difference. Anyone who says otherwise is just looking to pick a fight.

Floating on water is not the same as walking on it, hence the Miracle moniker should be revoked.

That’s crazy talk NotFromNewZealand. They are miles apart in flavor. I can tell when someone has ruined a dish like deviled eggs, or macaroni salad 9 out of 10 times. The tenth time I only miss because they use a tiny bit of miracle whip. Apparently claiming there is not a difference is also a way to pick a fight. FOOOOOOOD FIGHT

If there was a both option, I would have picked “both”.

I likem both..have not noticed a huge difference, but then I’ve tasted vegemite and once you’ve tried vegemite, ALL other condiments taste just fine.

Voting worked fine in Chrome for me. Mayonnaise, because I can pronounce everything in it. ;)

I like them both, but if they are standing side by side, I will go Miracle Whip 99 times out of 100.

The only thing I like Miracle Whip for is coleslaw. I can eat mayo on just about anything!

They’re both about as good as Paul’s spelling.
