I Try It So You Don’t Have To: Bamba Peanut Snack Lemmonex November 5, 2008 Bizarre, I Try It So You Don't Have To, Reviews 14 Comments Who doesn’t love peanut butter? It is a universal unifier. If you don’t love peanut butter, I don’t really want to be your friend. When I saw these Bamba Peanut Snacks at Giant, I was intrigued. They looked like peanut butter flavor Cheetos. I had to try them. Here is what I thought: Smell: It smells like concentrated peanut butter with a slightly plastic edge. Appearance/Texture: These looked like straightened out cheetos; they are one and a half inch long tan tubes. Upon hitting the tongue they instantly disintegrate and adhere to the roof of your mouth. I was instantly reminded of communion wafers. These puffs are sticky and having an amazing talent for coating every inch of your mouth with a waxy substance. Taste: What is the deal with all the food on the market that tastes like nothing? OK…I wouldn’t say this tasted like nothing, but the peanut butter flavor was barely present. It was tasting with my nose more than my mouth for sure…I knew it was supposed to be peanut butter, so that was what I tasted. I was all prepared for awesomeness…there was no awesomeness to be had. Final Verdict: I will get my peanut butter fix from a Reece’s peanut butter cup or straight from a spoon. Peanut butter cheetos should not exist. I remember loving them when I was a kid and before I knew any better. The name escapes me and a Google search didn’t help me either. Reply B November 5th, 2008 What is the business model involved with creating and marketing a product this crappy or, at best, tasteless (literally, that is)? It can’t involve repeat customers – I would imagine that nearly all consumers would buy this and, like you, find it crappy and a waste of money and calories. Reply KassyK November 5th, 2008 B–This is a HUGE product in the Middle East–Osem is an Israeli brand which is really good–I hate Bamba though. But its been around for decades. Lemm–I wish you had asked me, I would have told you they are HORRIFIC. Grew up with them around… Osem makes some amazing snacks but Bamba is just horrible. People LOVE it there though. They have this BBQ like corn chip called Bisli that is amazing. 🙂 Reply Amanda November 5th, 2008 Ah, man, I remember I was watching over a class of first-graders and one of them had these “snacks” for lunch, and there was another little girl who was deathly allergic to peanuts and we had to hide her in the bathroom. BAMBA is the best! 🙂 I probably only think that because it reminds me of my childhood, as they are classic Israeli snacks which most kids there grow up eating. I grew up in the US, so every time a relative came over we’d get to scarf these down. YUMMM!! M Reply Mishi November 6th, 2008 Peanut butter straight from the spoon? That’s a little habit that most people try to hide – and the pretend they have no idea how the multiple spoon shaped gauges appeared in the peanut butter jar during the night.
