In case you missed it, since Twitter has now suspended the account, perhaps until social media managers get back from their long weekend, Burger King’s account got royally robbled today via hackers.

The cyber pranksters  changed Bk’s avatar and name to “McDonalds” and went on to send out a deluge of saucy, profanity laced tweets that would make the most seasoned branding executive grimace.

Not all bad news though, Burger King’s account added over 25,000 followers in less than an hour. Perhaps brand highjacking on social media will be the next savvy step in marketing?
