You’ll be hooked on this simple homemade chocolate ganache frosting recipe. The truth is, no matter how delicious and moist a cake is, it’d just be an empty canvas without the frosting. A good luscious homemade frosting is that little something that makes every dessert amazing.

The same recipe used for Martha Stewart’s cupcakes, this rich chocolate ganache frosting is the pure definition of what chocolate should be: rich, creamy, and irresistibly luscious.

Just like chocolate ganache glaze, this frosting is ultimately spreadable after it thickens and goes well with almost everything. Best part yet, it can be whipped up in merely 3 simple steps.

Oh yes, licking the frosting off the spoon just got a whole lot better.

Ingredients
  1. 1 lb. of bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  2. 2 1/3 cups of heavy cream
  3. ¼ cup of corn syrup
Instructions
  1. Place the chocolate in a large heat proof bowl, then bring the cream and corn syrup to a simmer over medium-high heat. Pour the mixture over the chocolate, then without stirring, let it stand until the chocolate starts to melt.
  2. Beginning in the center and working outward, stir the melted chocolate into the cream until everything is evenly combined and smooth (beware over stirring!)
  3. Pop the frosting into the fridge, stirring every 5 minutes, until the frosting is barely holding its shape and is lighter in color.
  4. Just like that, your 3 easy steps to chocolate heaven.
Notes
  1. The trick is all in creating the perfect consistency. If the frosting gets a little too thick, reheat it in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Once the frosting melts, you’ll have a second chance to stir it until it’s perfectly smooth again!
