Happy(ish) Monday, So Good readers! It’s time for another Eating Styles poll. Despite getting a fair amount of sleep last night, I’m feeling pretty tired today and I think I might go for an energy drink in a little bit. Though I don’t have a problem with most energy drinks, I know some people who  can’t stand them.

It could just be that I’m uneducated when it comes to the contents of energy drinks (though I’ve spent enough time on this site to know how much Red Bull would kill me) and that’s entirely true. I’ve looked at none of the nutritional information and none of the science, and am pretty much the worst possible reference on the subject. But I still drink them with the same reckless abandon as diet soda. Ignorance is bliss and I’ll be drinking them to the day I die of [a heart attack/cancer/a neurological disorder/etc].

    Hey Sam,

don’t really have anything against energy drinks but I have stopped drinking them, I realized it’s just a heart pumping “drug” that leaves me more tired after it drains off.

I think if the energy drink uses a natural sweetener then, one is less likely to crash. Even coffee drinks that are sugar laden can have this crash effect. Natural sweeteners like Stevia and Xylitol are thought to be safer than the artificial versions. Xylitol is even known to prevent cavities.
