Nothing says “happy holidays” like gut rot – er – I mean, egg nog. While some people love this deadly and delicious combination of milk and eggs, some can’t stand it. At any rate, Andy’s history of eggnog proved this drink has stood the test of time.

As JT pointed out, some varieties of eggnog get some strange spins put on them. At the grocery store, you can find chocolate, coffee, soy, alcoholic, and fat free eggnog. And let we forget grandma’s favorite: Muscle Milk Eggnog!

Wow, I’m really sorry you had to see that.

Anyway, this week we want to know: how do you nog? (Sorry about that, too…the word “nog” is way to easy to use as a verb) Do you stay devoted to the original stuff? Or do you like some of the more quirky kinds, like chocolate or soy? Or do you just dislike all of it? Let us know, and explain your choice in the comments.

The original stuff, only homemade though. The store bought stuff is too sweet and too thick and gummy. (thanks carrageenan). The very name Muscle Milk seems wrong to me, eggnog Muscle Milk is one of the signs of the apocalypse I think.

None for me, thanks. I can’t stand the stuff. My husband loves it, though. When he has a glass, I nearly have to leave the room. Even the smell is disgusting. Thank goodness it only is available for a short time.

I had an eggnog shake and it hit the spot and put me in a Christmas mood. I heard homemade was great (need a recipe that doesn’t use raw eggs), but stay away from the too thick, too sweet, too flavored cartoned kind.

LOVE the original stuff!! Rich and creamy! These days, though, I usually drink the “light”..its still rich enough. Loved the full fat version until I read the label once…I think it was written by Stephen King.

I prefer the “light” or “low fat” version, but it is getting harder to find than a few years ago.
