Happy Monday, So Good readers!  Just your friendly neighborhood Junk Food Guy here, exhausted after watching an estimated 30 combined hours of basketball over the past four days.  This week, I’d like to review a product from Ciao Bella, a very tasty gelato company.  I met some of their folks at the Summer Fancy Food Show last year, and was impressed.  When I saw these Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares, I knew they had to be mine.

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares, made with sea salt caramel gelato, caramel and chocolate swirl, and standard chocolate cookie exterior, looked AMAZING in my grocer’s freezer.  Though not the same flavor profile, the construction of these squares reminds me of the 7-11 7-select S’mores Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares

I already KNEW Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares would be a hit, because, honestly, WHO DOESN’T LOVE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES?  I mean, really – it’s cookies and ice cream. What’s NOT to love?  Plus you have a great company like Ciao Bella, taking the contraption to the next level?  Please.

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares are LOADED WITH CALORIES.  25% of my daily saturated fat in one sandwich??? So, if I eat the WHOLE box, I can just check myself into the hospital early? Okie dokie!

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares contains Sea Salt Caramel “Ripple” and Chocolate “Ripple” – LOVE IT.  Just dump that ripple straight into my mouth, please.

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares were square in shape, and reminded me sort of like a Klondike Bar in terms of size.  Everything else was pretty standard looking – nice thick cookies with the standard hole punched surface, and a nice thick slab of gelato in between.  Time to taste!

Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares

OMG.  These Ciao Bella Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Squares are friggin’ amazing.  Let me describe:

The outside cookie was sturdy and provided a nice dark chocolate flavor that wasn’t overly sweet.  It wasn’t dry, per se, but was cakey enough that it didn’t truly mix with the ice cream…which I liked, because the dark chocolate flavor then primed the tongue for what was to come.

The caramel gelato has LOTS of great Ciao Bella flavor… you could taste the saltiness of the gelato along with the nice sugary caramel flavor. Kind of makes my tongue water right now typing about it.  The sea salt in the gelato served to REALLY accentuate the sweet ribbons of caramel and chocolate within!

Then, as the entire slightly salty sweet caramel chocolatey concoction was swirling around in my mouth, the flavor ended with the less sweet sandwich cookie re-emerging to give the whole taste a cake/ice cream-like finish.  SO. GOOD. 😉

You need to buy these and eat these, if you can find them. DO IT.

PURCHASED AT: Harris Teeter

COST: about $4.69.  PRICEY.

Oh my goodness that last photo almost looks pornographic! These sound amazing and remind me of the good half of a Maxibon (not sure if you get those over there) only better because that caramel looks utter filth!

Love these!!! Having a hard time finding them again in my grocery store though. Really nice to find icecream or sweets made w/cane sugar and real vanilla extract! This is my low calorie fix for when I need a treat.
