Chipotle Sits Well With Romney JT October 11, 2012 Fast Food, Politics 2 Comments The day before last week’s first presidential debate in Denver, Mitt Romney left his warm, protective cocoon in order to be among the teeming masses and get some lunch. Like John and Jane Q. Public, he went to a Chipotle. (His operatives must have also told him it would help with the Hispanic vote.) Clearly, the locals were impressed. And by impressed, I mean trying to figure out why this fool was hanging out behind the counter. According to the Washington Post, “I usually get the burrito,” Romney said. “I think I’ll go for the bowl today. That’s a good idea.” Romney then proceeded to order his with pork, rice, black beans and pico de gallo, as well as guacamole. Of course he usually gets the burrito. He goes there all the time – he is very much in touch with you and me. But then, what happens? He flip-flops on what he’s done before and goes with the bowl. There really is a first for everything. [That said, I’ve always been curious who actually gets the bowl. Isn’t the idea to have it all nicely wrapped up so you can peel it like a banana, and get all the flavors in one bite? That’s what a burrito is… otherwise it is just meat and rice. Do you trust someone who gets a burrito bowl? But I digress.] What cannot be argued is how the meal catapulted Romney back into the race through an aggressive, capable attack on an unprepared President. Perhaps a lack of tortilla made all the difference. Clearly, he need to start eating there more – just have one of the flunkies pick it up next time. H/t to the AP for the photo. The bowl is awesome! Side of chips & guac… its like the best dinner/dip ever. Reply Meg October 17th, 2012 The bowl is wheat-free which some people need! Plus those flour tortillas have an insane amount of calories for what is essentially a bland edible wrapper… Also in a burrito you can’t mix everything together like you can in a salad bowl Btw the Taco Bell chicken cantina bowl is delicious! There are very few fast food items that are dairy and wheat free.
