“…and that’s it for news. Kevin, what does our beer forecast look like?”

“Right now we’re seeing a lot of beers turning dark brown, with Oktoberfest and pumpkin flavors raining down all over the shelves…”

“…Pretty soon we’ll be heading into the winter months, where we will see more aromatic, maltier ales gathering with hints of cloves, cinnamon, and apple….”

“…Springtime will herald a showering of lighter maibocks and perhaps some fruity beers…”

“…As things start to heat up again during the summer months, we’ll cool off with a snappy pilsner or a sunny IPA. That’s all for weather. Back to you, Kim!”

Even though I don’t care for pumpkin beers, fall still gets my vote. So many delicious Oktoberfest offerings are available. I don’t like, spice or fruit in my beers as a general rule so spring and summer just don’t do it for me.

Pumpkin beer is just so wrong. I understand that it is a historical style, but hey – we have grain now, let’s use that.

Even though a hot summer day next to the lake is probably the ideal time for a beer, I chose Winter for a couple reasons.
There are many more “seasonal brews” available around the holidays and……age is forcing more moderation upon me so I now try to limit my consumption of alcohol to nighttime hours only and the nights are WAY longer in the Winter!!

I agree with Mark, gotta love all the Oktoberfest opportunities in the fall! As for specific breweries, my number one choice is New Glarus Brewing Company in New Glarus, WI closely followed by New Belgium Brewing from Fort Collins, CO! Can’t go wrong with either.
