It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another eating styles poll. This week’s topic: regional hot dog styles.

With all these meat-shunning Fridays going around, it can be easy to forget about the red-blooded, all-American food staple. I know it’s lent, but for now leave your fish fryers dormant and don your protein caps because now it’s time to do some fiercely loyal regional hot dog style voting.

These choices are taken from Sonic’s four new recent hot dog releases (pictured above). Slashfood describes them as:

…the All-American Dog has ketchup, mustard, relish, and chopped raw onions (386 calories); the Chili Cheese Coney is topped with chili and shredded cheddar cheese (420 calories); the New York Dog has spicy mustard, grilled onions, and sauerkraut (352 calories); and the Chicago Dog is topped with a pickle spear, relish, tomatoes, hot peppers, chopped raw onions, celery salt, and mustard, with poppy seeds on the bun (435 calories).

What’s it going to be, So Good readers? Do you have an inbred aversion to putting ketchup on your dog? A hatred of sauerkraut? Or maybe a hot dog style that’s all your own? Vote and share your thoughts on hot dog styles in the comments section below.

Ketchup on a hot dog? Never!
Brud’s dog from State O’ Maine: yellow mustard, sweet relish, mayo and celery salt. You want onions? Get the fried rings.

There is only one best choice: BACON-WRAPPED.

A hot dog without bacon is like a Krispy Kreme donut without the glaze…or like a black-and-white rainbow. Why deny yourself the best part?

All of the listed styles have their merits, kraut and mustard are a classic for me. I have to say that it is really all about the hot dog itself. A good hot dog doesn’t need to have a salad on top of it to be delicious.

I work at sonic and get to make all of these dogs all day but my favorite to eat is the all american. The hot dogs are all beef so they taste awesome with nothing on them

I like relish only on my dog, unless I have sauerkraut on it, then only that.

Never have been big on ketchup, mustard and onions on my dog

Man that must be a crappy sonic who made those dogs. I have tried all the dogs at my local sonic and they actually almost look like the picture. almost but they were not attrocius as those dogs. well i have to say i like the good ole reliable chili cheese dog. tried sauerkraut for the first time not a fan, tried the chicago pepper and poppy seed bun just arnt my thing, and the all american is just a good classic. After all that said i still have to side with chili and cheese winning me over. so heres a question for everyone do you preffer sonics new all beef 6 in dogs or do you like the big ole quarter pound beef and pork hot dog they have

    Bun, dog, bbq sauce.

And if you put onions on my dog, I’m not paying for it.
