Love these. I could not do without French Onion Soup for the rest of my life.

    Lobster Bisque or Maryland Crab?
Tomato soup with grilled cheese or Jewish Penicillin (chicken soup?)

I’m afraid it another “none of the above” for me. Soups that are nothing but onions or clams? Why?

Usually you have qualifiers on these. What about other chowders (Manhattan, Rhode Island, Maine)? Could I have cippino? What about salmon or haddock chowder. If it is just about clams that makes it easy, if it is all seafoods in chowder form that makes this a really hard decison

Manhatten chowder is clam chowder. Any chowder with clams falls under this category.

While a good point on there being many seafood chowders, few are as widely available as clam chowder. Unless you are in a fresh seafood restaurant, you don’t often see a fish chowder other than clam, and in the store, it’s hard to find so yes, this is just limited to chowder with clams.

That may make it an easy call for some, but as I pointed out, for many Americans, they just don’t see seafood chowders all that often.

Me, always thought French Onion soup was a bit overrated. I can never give up New England Clam Chowder, so I’ll keep that.

I’ve only had the opportunity to eat French Onion Soup once in my life, so this was an easy choice.

I love me some chowder. Strangely enough, some of the best I have had came from Seattle.

Onion soup has been, and will continue to be, a vehicle for melted cheese gorging.

This one was hard–one of my favorite restaurants has an awesome vegetarian french onion soup—but I love me some New England Clam Chowder, so I’ll have to go with that.
