It's close but I gotta go with shrimp. Mercury levels of tuna vs. shrimp are clearly on the shrimp side. I realize that mercury is the tastiest of the heavy metals, but I don't want to be eating sashimi and realize that I've pulled a Jeremy Piven.

Long live cold shrimp! Vote as you wish, don't be swayed by those who wish to cloud your judgment with words like, "ahi" and "Tuna steak!"

i didn't even mention seared ahi. it can be as an appetizer, in a sandwich, on a salad, an entree....

seared ahi on its own could take on shrimp.

C'mon people! Vote Tuna! Shrimp is aight, but as rossitron points out, shrimp is only good with delicate care, tuna is so versatile and easy to work with. I cook sesame crusted tuna steaks all the time. Plus - sushi! Tuna sushi is fantastic - and what about Toro?

my goodness, the shrimp/tuna match-up is tough.

both of these meats have an astounding degree of utility in the kitchen. you can do almost anything with either of these meats.

i'm gonna have to go with tuna for this reason: the cheapest tuna (canned) might be just as delicious as the most elegant fillet. this fish truly is delicious and available to everyone. as a starving student, i can make up an absolutely delightful tuna salad sandwich and feel like i'm eating at a seaside bistro. all this from a can, i say, is pretty awesome. i don't think this can be said for shrimp. shrimp commands the use of fresh ingredients and a little more finesse in the kitchen to be as noteworthy.

while i love shrimp and it really can be used in a zillion delicious dishes, it doesn't do so as elegantly and effortlessly as tuna.
