The Best Selling Beers of 2007

January 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I’m always intrigued by what products, beer, snacks, burgers etc. rack up the highest sales, but that information is very difficult to find. Well fortunately, in the case of beer, I’ve found it. The information is from October, but one would assume those numbers stayed consistent through the final two months of the year. Appellation Beer posted information on the best selling beers in the U.S. in 2007.

This information is based on data from Information Resources Inc. (IRI), who track sales of consumer package goods, primarily in supermarkets, drug stores and convenience stores, which is where most people in the United States buy beer. These numbers do not account for beer sold on draft.

These are the more mass produced beers, but Appellation Beer also provides info on the best selling craft beers:

For a little context on how the level of sales between these two groups compare, Miller High Life, #10 on the overall list, sells 6 times as many beers as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Interesting.
