As readers of my blog know, I discovered Bacon Salt right as I was launching this blog. I previously wrote about it to both critique the concept and praise their online marketing strategy. The creators of Bacon Salt were kind enough to provide me with a sample pack of their Original, Hickory and Peppered [...]

Heinz Launches New Steak Sauce
August 31st, 2007 · No Comments
They released a new steak sauce under their HP brand, called, you guessed it, HP Steak Sauce.
Well they released it in Great Britain. So you can’t actually buy the new steak sauce anywhere in America. Oh and it’s not available for retail, just for the food service sector. So even if you DO live in [...]

Who Owns the Steak Bomb?
August 30th, 2007 · 20 Comments
What is a steak bomb? As a New England boy I know the answer to this question: It’s a sandwich that is overstuffed with steak, cheese, salami (or pepperoni), peppers, onions and mushrooms. You travel around New England and you come across this sandwich somewhat frequently, at many different delis.
So what did USA Subs [...]

Does Top Chef’s Brian Love the Threesomes?
August 30th, 2007 · 3 Comments
But not the type of threesome you’re thinking of? Charlus over at Amuse-Biatch seems to think so. (In the interest of full disclosure, I would like to note I have been rooting for Brian since episode 2, and nothing about this blog post changes that).
With a little investigative work, Amuse-Biatch noticed [...]

The Most Expensive Sandwich Ever…Until Now
August 30th, 2007 · 2 Comments
Serious Eats blogs about a new contender for the most expensive sandwich throne. The London department store Selfridges introduced the “MacDonald” in 2006 (cost:$170) which was believed to be the world’s most expensive. But the Cliveden in Berkshire started serving the “von Essen Platinum Club Sandwich” (cost:$200) a couple months ago.
Does either sound appealing [...]

August 29th, 2007 · 4 Comments
Following up on my previous post about what your sandwich says about you, try taking this quiz over at BlogThings. It tells you what kind of sandwich you are and what that says about your personality.
Here’s what I ended up with:
You Are a Club Sandwich

“Your sub-conscious emotions are regularly revealed by your personal choices, and your innermost desires can easily [...]

Conservatives are Fat, Fat, Fatties
August 28th, 2007 · 5 Comments
At least that’s one thing I surmised from the new obesity report put out by Calorie Lab. As I was writing this blog post, I did a blog search and discovered I’m not the only one who noticed this (Hat tip to Open Left, who yesterday picked up on the same trend).
Out of the 20 [...]
Bacon Salt is Hip to the Series of Tubes

(I swear a review is coming soon, I’ve [...]

August 28th, 2007 · 1 Comment
According to CitySearch, Hardee’s was voted #1 for fast food in 13 cities, and their Thickburgers were voted “Best Burger” in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Louisville, Minneapolis and Kansas City, Mo. (Hat tip to Slashfood, where I first read this story).
Now I must admit it’s been well-over 10 years since I’ve had Hardee’s, it’s just not an [...]
Name the Sandwich Contest Was “Dumb”
August 27th, 2007 · 1 Comment
So says Ed Shamy, of the Burlington Free Press. I previously wrote about how he organized a contest to come up with a new name for a Sub/Grinder/Hero/Hoagie that would be unique to Vermont. Shamy now admits the contest was a failure, describing it as:
A fiasco from the instant I dreamed it up.
Well jeez, [...]

So says Quentin Tarantino about the In-N-Out Double-Double burger in a recent interview with FHM magazine:
“Hands down my favourite fast-food chain is the In-N-Out Burger. The double double with cheese is one of the great food experiences. It’s like naughty sex. Bruce Willis even admitted he doesn’t eat fast food anymore, except from [...]

George Costanza Says: McDLT!
August 25th, 2007 · No Comments
Remember the McDLT? Yeah, me neither. Apparently in the 80’s, McDonalds had the brilliant idea to use a double-wide Styrofoam container so they could serve a burger with the hot burger and the cold lettuce and tomato in two seperate compartments.
Brilliant or moronic? You make the call. Of course as you can see [...]

Would You Rather: Melted Cheese vs. Potatoes
August 24th, 2007 · 3 Comments
Today’s Would You Rather? compares two seemingly random products that are both eaten deceptively frequently.
Would You Rather?
Option #1: You can never eat melted cheese in any form again for the rest of your life. You can still eat any kind of cheese you want in a cold, unmelted form.
Option #2: You can never eat [...]
